December 20, 2011Earlier this year, the NCAA announced groundbreaking legislation that would allow student-athletes to receive a stipend of up to $2,000.00 per year. However, in recent weeks, many of the member institutions have pulled a Lee Corso—not so fast my friends. The NCAA has received 109 override requets for proposal 2011-96, which jeopardizes the future of the groundbreaking stipend. The institutions questioning the proposal cited a myriad of reasons to override the proposal including Title IX, creating an uneven playing field, and such legislation will lead to increased transfer activity.
