Attorneys at Barlow Garsek & Simon, LLP represent and advise school districts, community colleges and other educational institutions throughout the state of Texas in all areas of school law. For instance, the Firm has significant experience in school-related employment issues, including representing school districts before hearing officers, school boards, and the Commissioner of Education in matters such as the termination/non-renewal and grievances of employees. Barlow Garsek & Simon attorneys also represent school districts before federal and state courts in connection with claims concerning civil rights violations and wrongful termination claims. In addition, our attorneys have assisted school districts in EEOC and DOL investigations, policy drafting and interpretation, and independent investigations. Notably, the Firm handles Constitutional matters, including first Amendment issues related to religion and other areas affecting speech rights as well as civil rights claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. We have represented educational institutions in a wide range of areas, from condemnation and construction suits to copyright and breach of contract claims.
