August 16, 2019Approximately one week after disseminating its new agent certification process, the NCAA revised the certification requirements in response to substantial backlash relating to what was dubbed the #RichPaulRule. Citing the NBPA’s history of granting waivers to its requirement of a bachelor’s degree, the NCAA modified the qualifications for being certified agent to the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree and/or are currently certified and in good standing with the NBPA.
- NBPA certification for a minimum of three consecutive years.
- Maintain professional liability insurance.
- Complete the NCAA qualification exam.
- Pay the required fees.
