September 11, 2015Christian Dennie and Matt Walton represented a Canadian lawyer in a matter in the United States District Court Southern District of Texas, Houston Division (“Southern District”). The plaintiff obtained a $2 million default judgment against the client. Afterwards, he retained Barlow Garsek & Simon, LLP (“BGS”) to represent his interests. Christian and Matt promptly filed a Motion to Set Aside the Default Judgment and a Motion to Dismiss for Lack of Jurisdiction. The Southern District set aside the default judgment and granted the motion to dismiss whereby the plaintiff shall take nothing from BGS’s client.
