As previously reported, a twenty (20) year old student worker died last year after a forty (40) foot hydraulic scissor lift blew over during a Notre Dame football practice. Last week, Notre Dame released its one hundred thirty (130) page report and indicated no individual disregarded safety or was indifferent to safety. As such, Notre Dame did not punish anyone individually. Ultimately, Notre Dame concluded “it’s a collective responsibility” to monitor safety and the institutional safety policies and procedures need to be reformed. Reports from the student worker’s family indicate that the family is “grateful” for the level of detail provided in the report.
