The NCAA Committee on Infractions Has Spoken: Northeastern State University (Division II)
July 29, 2013Will Congress Seek to Reform the NCAA Infractions Process?
July 29, 2013As previously discussed here and here, the NCAA is currently embroiled in litigation with plaintiffs over head injuries suffered while allegedly competing as amateur student-athletes for NCAA institutions. Following on the heels of lawsuits filed against the NFL relating to head injuries, plaintiffs are seeking class certification to allow them to add thousands of plaintiffs all across the country to the suit currently pending in the United States District Court in Chicago, Illinois. The lawsuit accuses the NCAA of failing to protect student-athletes by “choosing instead to sacrifice them on an altar of money and profits.” No decision has yet been rendered on the motion for class certification.
